The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has published two announcements regarding the Virtual Research Institute (Polish: Wirtualny Instytut Badawczy – WIB). They establish Łukasiewicz – PORT as the managing entity of WIB, define the area of ​​scientific activity of WIB, determine the amount of funds allocated for financing scientific activities and indicate the maximum period of financing scientific activity.

On July 2, 2019, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education Public Information Bulletin has published the announcements “about the area of ​​scientific activity financed from the Polish Science Fund and the amount and period of this funding” and “about the entity managing the virtual research institute.”

The Minister of Science and Higher Education in agreement with the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Technology has decided to designate a research area financed from the Polish Science Fund – it will be medical biotechnology – oncology. PLN 450 million will be allocated for its financing for the period of 10 years.

Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development based in Wrocław will become the entity managing the virtual research institute.
